Olive View Medical Center (OVMC) is a county hospital located in the north end of the San
Fernando Valley, about 30 minutes away from UCLA. This hospital is one of six operated
by the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services. The facility is a 220 bed
13-year-old medical center that serves the needs of low income and indigent patients,
as well as the surrounding middle class community. The attending staff are faculty
members of the UCLA School of Medicine and UCLA residents rotate through OVMC. The
gynecologic oncology service is headed by Dr. Christine Holschneider and Dr. Allison
Axtell and the service is run by the UCLA Ob-Gyn residents at OVMC which include a
fourth, third and second-year resident as well as an intern. The gynecologic oncology
fellow is expected to attend and help supervise the gynecologic oncology clinic at
OVMC and is actively involved in the gynecologic oncology OR cases. The fellow will
also attend the biweekly multidisciplinary patient care conference organized by the residents.
